5 Tips for a stress free wedding day

I have photographed a lot of weddings, and I have some advice for those of you getting ready for your big day.

1. It is going to be an emotional day. Probably one of the most emotional days of your life. Enjoy the emotions that come up. I have seen brides who have this idea of what their day is supposed to be like, and forget that everything happens as it should. Highs and lows are normal, ride them like a roller coaster. Cry when you need to, laugh out loud, take a minute to breathe. Don't try to stuff emotions in, just let them happen!

2. Everyone will have a good time. Just relax. Don't worry so much about if your guests are enoying themselves. They are. Focusing on the minor details to ensure your guests are comfy and cozy will only add to the list of things that can distract you from your big day. Remember, you are getting married to the person of your dreams. You are declaring your love for your soul mate in front of people who love and care about you. That is all that matters!

3. Hire a planner, or put someone in charge of the details. Another helpful hint, don't have your mom or mil do it. If you can't afford a planner, have a responsible friend (preferably not in the wedding party) fill this spot. You will be busy, your mom will be busy. Having someone who can keep track of whats going on, run and get you a starbucks or a hotdog, take care of minor details and keep things on schedule is priceless!

4. Find a nice spot to get your dress and make up on. A lot of brides get ready in church

basements, or other more convenient spots. Check out sites like airbnb or ask a relative in the area to borrow their home for a few hours. Here's why its wise to go to another location. Pictures in basements never turn out as good as pictures in well lit rooms. If you want those beautiful pictures of you getting into your dress, (when emotions are high), get a hotel room. Another reason is so you can get pictures of you and your bridesmaids before the wedding. It's hard to do in a basement, and you can't really go anywhere else without the early bird guests seeing you!

5. Pack a bridal emergency kit. Scrambling last minute because a strap falls off is more then a little stressful. Packing things such as a sewing kit, super glue, white duct tape, breath mints and deoderant are all great things to have! Here is some more information on bridal emergency kits! http://www.julep.com/blog/diy-wedding-day-survival-kit/

Hope this helps your day go by smooth! Remember, its your day to celebrate, not to stress. Pictures turn out best when you are relaxed and focused on your love!
