Creativity and New Beginnings

This week has been such a fun filled creative week for me. It started out with an amazing photo shoot with Maday from Free Spirit Design.

My earliest memories of my mom were of her sewing and making things to give to other people. And the joy the others got from my mom's work has always been with me. Everyone comments on how much I look like my mom, and how I have gotten my creativity from her. It's a part of me that is tucked way down inside of me, the roots of my being. So much part of me that I often forget it.

When I first met with Maday, there was an overwhelming sense of 'home.' The smell of fabric, thread and sewing machine brought back a piece of my childhood that I had forgotten about.

Maday is more then a 'sewer', or a 'quilter.' She is a creator. And she has found her true being in giving this gift that she possess to the world.

I have so much respect for this craft that is mainly dominated by women. A 'thread' of history if you will. So much of our time goes into finding our future, and sometimes the true treasure comes from the past.

And I am so happy I was able to help her on her journey.
